Independent Distributor

Distributor Research

Independent

The Asylum
The Asylum is a production, financing and international independent horror film distributor. Although the company is based mainly in California, America which has been named the 'home of showbiz and cinema' is very much interested in international horror cinema, especially English. The Asylum fully produces and finances on average around 10 to 15 horror films per year and its American home entertainment division has released over 300 titles to date.
Even though our film is an English film, I believe that it doesn't particularly have much regional identity, or at least doesn't rely on the region to make sense and it would make sense to other places and even other countries. So because the distributor is based mainly in the USA it doesn't make much difference as I believe that it will still have the same affect and the same appeal to overseas audiences as much as it would to an English audience.

Films by The Asylum:

8213: Gacy's House

This film surrounds a real life event. This film is about the child murderer John Wayne Gacy. The film surrounds a group of paranormal investigators that enter the home of Gacy who was also a pedophile in hopes that they would find some form of paranormal happening. They set up camera's through out the house to try and spot anything that they can. As well as this they also use hand held camera's. They conduct seances and ask for Gacy, a violent serial killer, himself to actually come forward and make contact with them. They also try and contact some of the victims.
Although the investigators feel that they are prepared for what is going to happen, they are not quite aware of the horrors that are still lingering in that house. And they are definitely not prepared for what they're about to face.
The film was released in 2010 and over all received a score of 3.1/10. That score was from 896 IMdB users.

666: The Child
After a fatal plane crash occurs, everyone is killed. Except one boy, Donald. Erika, a famous actress learns about the boys 'ordeal' and asks her husband Scott, who is a camera man if they can adopt the boy as his parents were killed in the crash and he appears to have no one. When they bring Donald home, Erika and Scott have a job they need to attend to and Scott's father Jake agrees to look after him for a couple of weeks until they are back. Although, a serious of odd accidents happen and Jake mysteriously dies. The nanny/housekeeper Lucy then comes to work there.
The nanny turns out to actually be a worshiper of the Anti-Christ and together her and Donald accumulate some awful plans that will ruin the lives of Erika and Scott forever.
This movie, much like the other above didn't receive very good reviews. It received 3.2/10 on IMdB from everyday users of the website.
Much like the other film I believe that too much is expected of independent horror films and people do not tend to watch those films with that in mind they believe that the film will be up to a standard of mainstream film that they expect to see at any cinema across the country, which is unfair as an independent company will more than likely not have the funding like an independent distribution company would.
